| How do you
restore Credit? A study released by
the U.S. Public Interest Research Group in June 2004 found that
79% of the consumer credit reports surveyed contained some kind
of error or mistake. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, consumers
have the right to gain access to their credit report and to
dispute any information on the report that is inaccurate,
misleading, obsolete and unverifiable. You indicate to us
which items you wish to dispute on your credit report, and how
you want us to dispute them. Once we've received your credit
reports, we will prepare the appropriate intervention or
dispute letters. The dispute letters are designed to communicate
your dispute in such a way that the credit bureaus will accept
the dispute and conduct an investigation. Our ability to delete
questionable, negative items is dependent on having up-to-date
credit reports. Without copies of your current credit reports we
can do very little to improve your credit. Sometimes clients forget
to send an updated credit report. Other times the credit
bureaus fail to send updated reports to the client. In either
case, the process slows until we receive updated credit
reports. It is therefore crucial that you send updated reports to
Debt Busters 911 as soon as you receive them from the bureaus.
This assures that Debt Busters 911 will keep your case moving
forward. At the conclusion of the credit bureau's
investigation, a new copy of the credit report should be sent to
your home along with any deletions or improvements. You will
then send copies of them to us. So, when we accomplish
deletions and improvements, you will see them first on your
credit report. Additionally, you are always welcome to call or
email your Debt Busters 911 representative and request an
update of the progress of your case. If you are still not
satisfied that the questionable, negative credit has been
accurately resolved, the cycle will begin again. You do have the
right, under federal law, to conduct your own credit repair process
if you so choose. While this may sound easy, any person who
has attempted to dispute items on his own credit report may
tell you otherwise. According to federal law, the credit
bureaus can ignore your dispute under a variety of conditions.
You have the legal right to work out your credit disputes with the
credit agencies and credit grantors yourself. It is much like your
right as a citizen to represent yourself in court. Many people,
however, choose to ask Debt Busters 911 to represent them
because of the depth of experience Debt Busters 911
demonstrates. Another factor to consider is the amount of
time and follow-up required to coordinate disputes with all credit
reporting agencies and the creditors appearing on your credit
report.
Do I need to pay my bills? Does paying my bills restore bad
credit? If there are delinquent accounts appearing on your
credit reports that have not been paid off, the actual debt
behind the listing remains the same even if the account is
deleted from your credit report. You may still owe the same money
that you owed in the first place. If you don't pay the debt, the
creditor or a collection agency may re-report the item. So removing
the listing without addressing the debt is only a temporary
solution. DebBusters911 will only dispute credit listings
that you indicate are inaccurate, unverifiable or misleading. If
you feel that a negative credit listing is 100% accurate,
and verifiable, then you shouldn't dispute it. When you pay an old
debt, the negative credit listing doesn't disappear. Once paid,
it may appear on your credit report as a paid delinquency, charge
off or collection (whatever the case may be.) That is, you won't
get very far paying your debts unless you also work to
restore your credit at the same time.
Do I need to see my Credit Report? Most don't even
know what questionable negative listings are likely appearing
on their credit report until they look. One tricky thing about bad
credit is that almost any small amount of bad credit will trigger
credit denial. ANY amount of bad credit, no matter how many items,
it will affect your financial security greatly. Even if there are
a couple of negative items on your credit report, it still makes
sense to retain DebtBusters911 to expedite the removal process. In
any case, if your credit comes back all positive or you
decide all items are accurate and verifiable, we generally
refund any fees.
Why do I need to send my credit reports to you?
That's the only way
that we can see what is updated on your credit bureau report.
Otherwise we can't tell what's transpired with your report. You
must send in your credit bureau reports if you want us to help
you. How long does it take to
restore my credit? The progress of your case will depend on your
timely participation (sending in credit reports on a timely
basis), the nature of your case, and the level of credit bureau
cooperation. It is difficult to suggest a standard time
frame for credit improvement, Debt Busters 911 will work with your
case on a monthly review basis. However, generally most cases
will take roughly six to nine months.
How often
should I expect to get mail from the credit bureaus?
You should expect
to get an updated credit report about every three to five
weeks. What should
I do with the credit reports mailed to me by the credit bureaus?
Make copies, then
send it to us via mail. What if some of the credit collectors call
me? Ask them for their
name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, the
account number they are collecting for and the original creditor.
Then you send this information to your DebtBusters911 credit
advisor. We will then handle it with a letter on your
behalf. What can you take
off of my credit bureaus report? We can dispute any inaccurate,
misleading, unverifiable and obsolete accounts like inquiries,
addresses, names, unpaid collections, charge-offs,
repossessions, medical bills, divorce debt, Federal tax liens,
State tax liens and all
bankruptcies. What if deleted items appear on my credit report again?
The
Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that the credit bureau inform
you before the re-report a previously deleted listing. The FCRA
also makes it more difficult for credit bureaus to re-report
listings. Because of these factors, it is a rare occasion for
listings to come back on once they've been deleted. If a negative
or questionable credit item is re-reported, the listing
will be disputed again with emphasis on permanent
deletion. Can I repair my
credit myself? Yes, you have the right to work out
your credit disputes with the credit agencies and credit
grantors yourself. Given some experience and study, you
could do some of what our staff does. It is much like your right as
a citizen to represent yourself in court. Another factor to
consider is the amount of time and follow-up required to
coordinate disputes with all three credit reporting agencies
and the creditors appearing on your credit report.
DebtBusters911 has the experience to represent you and we take
pride in our success rate. DebtBusters911 has systematized the
disputation of credit through our trained staff of credit
advisors all using state of the art
